The Lazy Margarita

Happy summer!  It’s the last day of our 21 Days of #LoveSummer stunt!  Celebrating our final day, we thought we’d add a bit of ease to an old favorite and make a lazy margarita.  When it gets hot outside – not the, “Oh wow, it’s hot out,” but the “OMFG it’s hot out” – the kind of day where your sweat has sweat.  All you want to do is stand still and hope for the slightest warm breeze to hit your skin.  The kind of day where your air conditioner and freezer become your escape from the sweltering humidity outside.

When it gets really hot, you don’t want to do anything, except the urge to jump in the pool, lake, ocean, and/or kiddy bath.  Maybe the kiddie sprinklers in one of NYC’s Parks?  Regardless, you don’t want to put in any extra effort (aka putting together the blender) into your day for fear of sweating like Niagara Falls.  So make your life easier, here’s a quick way to make a classic margarita, the lazy way…

Now this means you’ll have to do some planning – 1.) Have tequila on hand – it’s a must.  2a.) Have sorbet (lime passion fruit, any flavor) stocked in your freezer, or 2b.) popsicles (again – in any flavor you like) – the Moms and Dads might have some of these laying around.  Now what?  Place the sorbet or popsicle in a cup, drizzle tequila over it, and let the heat do the melting.  The sorbet is (vegan friendly) passion fruit, and the popsicle is lime-flavored.

Drinking Game to play on those hot summer days: New drinking game to play on those hot days – “Marquisrita Popsicle Wars” – Place a Popsicle (preferably lime flavored) into a glass. Pour 1-2 shots over the Popsicle. Fastest person to finish the Popsicle (dunking in the tequila after licking is encouraged) and then taking the shot is the winner. Losers must take an extra shot. At that point were all winners.
