#LoveSummer: Picnic in the Park (and Movie Calendars)

June 10, 2015
Picnic

Summer is in the air. The NYC parks and other venues offer free movie screenings all summer long. It could be Sharknado 2 under the Brooklyn Bridge, Apollo 13 on the flight deck of the Intrepid, or Ghost Busters in Bryant Park. So whip up some food, grab some friends, and go have a picnic!

Central Park Picnic

What’s better than a free movie in the park? Making a picnic out of it! We pulled our blogger and media celebrity friends together for a picnic in Central Park, highlighting some great food ideas to bring to your next picnic (see gallery below). Everything is easy to make – whether beforehand or on a whim. We wanted to pull together our favorite summer food that your friends will love – not that they’ll love you for bringing them food in the first place ;). We had so much fun setting this up and want to thank Stephanie, Nick, and Edwin for coming out and eating all the food and being photographed! Look out for some of their #LoveSummer posts all summer-long!

Picnic

What I love about NYC in the summer is all of the events the city has to offer. From food to music to film festivals, there’s something for everyone. Last year we attended movies in Bryant Park, on Chelsea Piers, and in Central Park. If you’ve never gone to an outdoor movie event then this summer, you have to go at least once. Grab some friends and pick a date. If anything, whip up some food and catch some rays at your local park. The image below will take you to Gothamist’s NYC summer movie schedule. Some of the movies have already begun, so get going!
